My Journey

The Story Behind The Unlayered You

Born and raised in Dubai, I moved to Mumbai after marriage, full of hope, trust, and dreams for the life we were building together.

From the outside, my life looked beautiful. I travelled, smiled, and seemed surrounded by love and comfort. People would sometimes say, "I want your life."

But behind closed doors, I was living a very different reality.

For more than a decade, I lived with emotional abuse, manipulation, physical abuse, financial control, and fear. Slowly, I became quieter, withdrew from people, and began losing trust in myself.

There was love too. There were good times, laughter, travel, and moments that felt real. That was part of what made everything so confusing.

Over time, I began believing what I was repeatedly told about who I was. I questioned my instincts, memory, and even my character. I started seeing myself through someone else's version of me, even though that version was far from the truth.

The hardest part was that I began to believe this was simply my new normal.

I convinced myself that this was how marriage and life were meant to be. That I had no other option. So I kept showing up, smiling, and doing everything expected of me, while carrying a wound deep within my soul.

Before marriage, I worked and believed in my abilities. During my marriage, I was told I did not need to work because everything would be provided for me. At the time, it sounded like love, care, and security.

I did not yet understand the hidden cost of losing my independence, or how deeply it would affect my confidence, choices, and belief in my ability to stand on my own. Over time, I began to believe I would never be able to work again or create a life of my own.

Then came a betrayal that shattered the blind trust I had carried for years. It devastated me, but it also forced me to question everything I had accepted as normal.

My children, my two little souls, and my dog, my little heart, gave me a reason to rise. I did not want my children to keep seeing their mother becoming quieter, smaller, and further away from herself. I wanted them to see that it was possible to reclaim your voice, question what you had been made to believe, and choose a different future.

So I began rebuilding. Not overnight. Not without fear. One baby step at a time.

As I created more distance from the fear and negativity that had shaped my life, I began seeing myself more clearly. I started questioning the beliefs that had been placed upon me and slowly learned to trust my own voice again. I rebuilt my confidence and began believing that I could work, create, contribute, and build a meaningful future.

I choose to believe that my journey was not without purpose. I believe the Almighty helped me transform what I lived through into something meaningful, so I could support women who are trying to find their way back to themselves.

That journey became the foundation of The Unlayered You.

I created this space for women who have become quiet, lost confidence in themselves, or started believing they are the problem. For women who look fine on the outside while carrying fear, confusion, and pain alone. For women who have accepted what hurts because they believe they have no other choice.

I am not here to tell you what decision to make. I am here to help you hear your own voice again, question what you have been made to believe, and reconnect with the strength that is still within you.

I know what it feels like to lose trust in yourself. I also know that the version of you shaped by fear, criticism, and manipulation is not the truth of who you are.

You do not have to have everything figured out before you reach out. You do not have to be certain. You only need to recognise that something within you is asking to be heard.

And when you are ready, I am here to walk beside you as you begin finding your way back to yourself.

With care,
